~ 102 inches wide x 93 inches long (as oriented on the bed)
(a generous Queen size, but can also work on a King size bed. I always suggest that you measure what you're currently using + see how it compares. A 'perfect' quilt can be many dimensions, depending on your personal preferences. Don't forget 1/2 of any difference will be on one side of the bed + half on the other!)
Art. For your bed.
A quilt is functional + decorative. It can cover your whole bed or lay folded at the bottom. It can be an extra layer on cold nights or the only cover you need. It can make a big splash of pattern + colour or be the perfect soothing backdrop for attention-grabbing cushions. Then when you get bored with one side, you can flip it over + start again at the beginning. There really are so many options for one quilt!
These Savile Row Quilt are my newest favourite thing. They're quite different from my Wool Blankets. More refined. The tops are made with hundreds of pieces of super-fine, luxurious Savile Row wool suiting, carefully cut from books of tailor's swatches (+ a bit of Giorgio Armani wool suiting I picked up in NYC in January). The variety of patterns and shades in the pieces can be mesmerizing.
The fabrics are smooth + rich. I wish you could see + touch them in person...but perhaps the next best thing is imagining the type of fabrics you would find at Harry Rosen or in the closet of the most dapper person you know. Yes, they're that lovely + the quilts all the more special because I could only make two.
Both timely + timeless at the same time. These quilts should be able to live happily on your bed for the rest of your life, alternating between the show stopping front + the easy-going reverse side.
MATERIALS: the top is pieced with premium worsted wool suiting fabrics. Pre-washed Japanese cotton is used on the reverse + for the binding. Premium washable wool batting on the inside! Wool batting is lightweight + breathes easily, so it keeps you warm in winter + also cool in summer. The machine quilting was created freehand, basically doodling with the machine. The cotton binding was folded over the edge and hand sewn in place.
NO DUPLICATES. There really is only one like this!
CARE INSTRUCTIONS: for a beautiful + long life, quilts should be washed as infrequently as possible. Soak up spills when they happen + spot clean as needed. Hang outside for in the sun for a couple of hours 2-3 times a year (on a nice dry summer day + again on a crisp, cold day in winter + before it's stored for any length of time). If a proper cleaning is needed, please dry clean.
