Jen Manuell
Jen Manuell is a designer, a maker, an entrepreneur + an artistic force.
Descended from a long line of talented craftspeople and artisans, Jen grew up in a busy household surrounded by art and craft. Jen carries forward the tradition of her creative fine-craft roots. Originally through Fish Eye Sisters + now via her eponymous* handmade textiles, Jen continuing to pursue her dream of making a living making things.
Although Jen holds a Commerce degree from Queen’s University, in terms of textiles Jen is largely self-taught + is an enthusiastic experimenter. Her passion is coming up with new twists on traditional techniques. A large stash of wool, amassed since she began rug hooking in 1999, was the inspiration behind her current focus on sewing + quilting with wool.
As an accomplished rug hooker, Jen has taught classes across Canada, in the US, + England. Her work has been exhibited in Canada + the US and has been featured in several publications, including Simply Modern by Deanne Fitzpatrick.
* Eponymous is simply a fancy word to describe things named after a person.
